Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary
- We don't ask for your name, email, phone, or address. There's no account, no signup, no newsletter.
- The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs (state, vehicle value, year, weight, fuel type) are never sent to our servers.
- We use Google AdSense, which serves ads using cookies. We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic patterns. Both can be opted out of (see below).
- We don't sell or share your data. There's nothing to sell.
What information we collect
Information we don't collect: name, email, phone number, mailing address, payment information, social security number, date of birth, vehicle VIN, license plate, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).
Information we do collect (anonymously, via Google Analytics): approximate location (country/state/city), device type, browser, referrer URL, pages viewed, and time on site. This data is aggregated and not tied to any individual.
Information stored in your browser: the calculator may store your last calculation in localStorage so the page remembers your inputs on return visits. This stays on your device — we never see it.
Cookies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Essential: none required.
- Analytics: Google Analytics (_ga, _gid). Used to count visits and measure popular pages. Anonymized.
- Advertising: Google AdSense. Used to serve relevant ads and prevent the same ad from repeating. Subject to Google's cookie policy.
You can opt out of advertising cookies via Google Ad Settings or by browsing in incognito mode.
Third-party services
- Google AdSense — serves the ads you see. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — measures aggregate traffic. IP anonymization is enabled.
- Affiliate networks (CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, Impact, FlexOffers, MaxBounty) — when you click an outbound affiliate link to Insurify, The Zebra, Hippo, AAA, Endurance, or Dirt Legal, those sites set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
- Netlify — hosts this site. Logs include IP addresses for security/abuse prevention, not for analytics.
Your rights under GDPR (EU / EEA visitors)
Because this site does not collect your name, email, address, or any other personally identifiable information directly, most of these rights are satisfied by default — there is nothing on our servers tied to you to access, rectify, or erase. We list the named rights anyway so you know what GDPR guarantees you, and so you can exercise them against our third-party partners (Google, affiliate networks) where applicable:
- Right of access (Article 15) — request a copy of any personal data a controller holds about you. We hold none directly; for AdSense / Analytics data, request via Google's privacy controls.
- Right to rectification (Article 16) — request correction of inaccurate data. Not applicable to us; applies to records held by Google or affiliate networks.
- Right to erasure / "right to be forgotten" (Article 17) — request deletion of personal data. We have nothing to delete on our side. Google honors deletion requests at the account level via Google Account settings.
- Right to data portability (Article 20) — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format. Not applicable to us; for Analytics data, use Google's portability tools.
- Right to object to processing (Article 21) — object to your data being processed for direct marketing or legitimate-interest analytics. Disable advertising and analytics cookies via the cookie banner, your browser settings, or Google Ad Settings.
- Right to restrict processing (Article 18) — request that processing of your data be paused. Equivalent to clearing cookies and using a privacy-mode browser session, since we run no server-side profile.
Your rights under CCPA (California residents)
Same caveat — we don't collect personally identifiable information about you directly, so most CCPA rights are inherently satisfied. The named rights guaranteed by California law are:
- Right to know (CCPA §1798.100) — what categories of personal information are collected, sold, or shared. From us: none directly. From third-party partners on our pages (Google AdSense, Google Analytics, affiliate networks): see their respective privacy policies linked above.
- Right to delete (§1798.105) — request deletion of personal information. We have nothing to delete on our side. Exercise this right against Google and affiliate networks via their account controls.
- Right to opt-out of sale or sharing (§1798.120) — opt-out of having your personal information sold or shared with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell data. Cookie-based advertising opt-out: Google Ad Settings. See also the GPC section below for browser-signal opt-out.
- Right to non-discrimination (§1798.125) — exercising any CCPA right will not affect the price, quality, or availability of any service on this site. The site is free; no account-tier discrimination is possible.
Anchor: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We don't sell or share. The opt-out of behavioral advertising cookies is honored through GPC (below) and Google Ad Settings.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid request to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for California residents under CCPA. When the GPC header is detected on your request, we treat your visit as having exercised your opt-out right; no separate request needed.
Technically, what this means on a faceless AdSense + affiliate site: we don't collect personal data ourselves to honor a GPC against. The signal is honored downstream — Google AdSense's IAB TCF integration and our affiliate-link infrastructure both observe browser GPC signals, so a visitor with GPC enabled receives non-personalized ads and unattributed affiliate clicks where applicable. For full effect, ensure your browser exposes GPC: enable it in Brave, DuckDuckGo, Firefox (with the privacy.globalprivacycontrol.enabled flag), or via the privacycg.org reference extension.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any change. Material changes will be flagged in a banner.
Why there is no "contact us" address
This is a faceless informational site. No collection happens directly: no name, email, phone, address, payment, or account. Because there is no personal data on our side to access, rectify, port, or delete, no inbound contact channel is needed for data-subject requests. For data held by our partners (Google AdSense, Google Analytics, affiliate networks: CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, Impact, FlexOffers, MaxBounty), exercise your GDPR / CCPA / GPC rights directly through their privacy policies linked above — they hold the records.
