Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 2026-05-24. Plain-language summary first, full terms below.
Scope: United States only
This site is operated from the United States and serves United States residents. The driver's-license fee data, REAL ID program references, statutes cited, and CCPA / GPC opt-out mechanisms below apply to US visitors. If you visit from outside the US, please consult your local privacy laws separately — this policy does not extend GDPR / EEA / UK protections.
Plain-language summary
- We don't ask for your name, email, phone, or address. There's no account, no signup, no newsletter.
- The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs (state, age, license type) are never sent to our servers.
- We use Google AdSense, which serves ads using cookies. We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic patterns. We use Microsoft Clarity for anonymous heatmaps and session replay (no PII captured). All of these can be opted out of (see below).
- We don't sell or share your data. There's nothing to sell.
What information we collect
Information we don't collect: name, email, phone number, mailing address, payment information, social security number, date of birth, vehicle VIN, license plate, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).
Information we do collect (anonymously, via Google Analytics): approximate location (country/state/city), device type, browser, referrer URL, pages viewed, and time on site. This data is aggregated and not tied to any individual.
Information stored in your browser: the calculator may store your last calculation in localStorage so the page remembers your inputs on return visits. This stays on your device — we never see it.
Cookies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Essential: none required.
- Analytics: Google Analytics (_ga, _gid). Used to count visits and measure popular pages. Anonymized.
- Session recording / heatmaps: Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk, CLID). Anonymously records page interactions and session replays so we can understand where the UI confuses visitors. No PII captured; form-input contents are masked by default.
- Advertising: Google AdSense. Used to serve relevant ads and prevent the same ad from repeating. Subject to Google's cookie policy.
You can opt out of advertising cookies via Google Ad Settings or by browsing in incognito mode.
Third-party services
- Google AdSense — serves the ads you see. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — measures aggregate traffic. IP anonymization is enabled.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymous heatmaps + session replay. Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Affiliate networks (CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, Impact, FlexOffers, MaxBounty) — when you click an outbound affiliate link, the destination sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
- Netlify — hosts this site. Logs include IP addresses for security/abuse prevention, not for analytics.
Your rights under CCPA (California residents)
We don't collect personally identifiable information about you directly, so most CCPA rights are inherently satisfied. The named rights guaranteed by California law are:
- Right to know (CCPA §1798.100) — what categories of personal information are collected, sold, or shared. From us: none directly. From third-party partners on our pages (Google AdSense, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, affiliate networks): see their respective privacy policies linked above.
- Right to delete (§1798.105) — request deletion of personal information. We have nothing to delete on our side. Exercise this right against Google, Microsoft Clarity, and affiliate networks via their account controls.
- Right to opt-out of sale or sharing (§1798.120) — opt-out of having your personal information sold or shared with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell data. Cookie-based advertising opt-out: Google Ad Settings. See also the GPC section below for browser-signal opt-out.
- Right to non-discrimination (§1798.125) — exercising any CCPA right will not affect the price, quality, or availability of any service on this site. The site is free; no account-tier discrimination is possible.
Anchor: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We don't sell or share. The opt-out of behavioral advertising cookies is honored through GPC (below) and Google Ad Settings.
How to submit a CCPA request
Email info@driverslicensefee.com with the subject line "CCPA request — know", "CCPA request — delete", or "CCPA request — opt-out". Per Cal. Civ. Code §1798.130(a)(2), we will respond within 45 days of receipt. Because we hold no personally identifiable information about you directly, most requests will result in a confirmation that we have nothing on file. For data held by third-party processors (Google AdSense, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, affiliate networks), we will redirect you to each processor's data-subject request channel.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid request to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for California residents under CCPA (per California Attorney General enforcement guidance under CCPA Reg §7025). When the GPC header is detected on your request, we treat your visit as having exercised your opt-out right; no separate request needed.
Technically, what this means on a faceless AdSense + affiliate site: we don't collect personal data ourselves to honor a GPC against. The signal is honored downstream — Google AdSense's IAB TCF integration and our affiliate-link infrastructure both observe browser GPC signals, so a visitor with GPC enabled receives non-personalized ads and unattributed affiliate clicks where applicable.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
